Course comments...

This course is offered by the Computer Learning Center located in the Huntsville Senior Center.  Class participants enjoy working with graphics. There is a lot of material which could be presented. It is the intent of this course to stimulate interest, provide insight into the most basic ideas, and to encourage seniors to experiment and learn the features of various Software Applications while having fun and sharing their knowledge with their peers. The best and only way to learn and retain "know-how" is by practice. Be aggressive and try new commands on the many dialog boxes and menus. You have unlimited copies and screens on which to explore. It is like having unlimited scratch paper to experiment with. Have FUN. Try the unknown, you may like it. There are several exercises for your practice.

Course Structure...

The material is presented on a Compact Disk and is provided in Hyper-Text Markup Language (html) to be viewed with an Internet Browser (Best viewed with Microsoft's Internet Explorer). The entire CD is interactive and all content linked.  This approach allows the users to progress at their own pace.  The course has been designed to allow participation by persons with minimal computer experience. Class members will be exposed to the basics of computer functioning, information management and processing.  Sections in the Syllabus can be skipped by more experienced users.  The Internet version has links to resources not available on this CD.  This CD contains files that are not included in the internet version.  For persons with vision impairment you may wish to set your Browser's text size to largest.

This course is extensive and ambitious, if you have a desire to learn and will spend time outside of class you will find it to be very rewarding.  Most of all have FUN.

Hyper-Links...

As you study this course become familiar with Hyper-Links.  Microsoft's Windows Operating Systems makes use of Object Linking and Embedding (OLE).  Hyper-Links are pointers or links to other documents, objects, or pages.  Most links are underlined text or tool buttons.  When you pass your mouse over the link the mouse pointer changes to a hand with an extended index finger.  This change invites you to click your mouse to view the linked content.  Some links may be external and require access to the Internet. Try this on the internal link below... (notice the color change of the text)
